Our History

Our roots in the Farragut community run deep and so does our commitment to it. Our father and founder Sam Taylor moved to what is now Farragut in 1969. After Farragut incorporated in 1980, Dixie Lee Wines & Liquors opened that same decade. Dixie Lee was a second career for our father and an opportunity for him to open his own business after successfully running them for other people.

The original store was located next to Little Joe’s Pizza, in the middle of what is now Watt Road. The current building was constructed in 1990, with a major expansion in 2015. Dixie Lee is still family owned, with multiple family members over multiple generations working, or having worked here, for over 30 years. Dixie Lee remains one of the oldest continually operated businesses in Farragut.

Sam Taylor believed deeply in giving back and helping others, things he and Dixie Lee put into practice through his many years with the Farragut Rotary Club. He encouraged this same charitable spirit in his children. We remain proud to play small parts when and where we can in various charitable and civic organizations in this community.
